The caterpillar's really not
a pretty sight to see,
As it slithers like a serpent 
on the branches of a tree.

And it moves about voraciously 
so as to devour,
And the branches hide their leaves from it
in terror of that hour.

Then, in the night, a quiet light, 
Aurora Borealis;
When the beastly thing surrenders
to becoming a chrysalis.

And then a wondrous change takes place, 
just before the sun is nigh;
A quintessence of Creation,
the victorious butterfly.
